Hut 4

Hut 4, the name has just said it, it was the fourth hut we have built. After pulling down Hut 5 in 2001 it the last relic from the beginning of Sang Tong Huts
For a small budget people who want to spend their times here, we still keep this huts. It is also perfect for children whose parents stay at Charlie´s hut.
Hut 4 is very classic, small huts with bamboo walls and floor, Dueng leaves roof and balcony of teak.
The equipment is just basic, that means a mattress for two persons, mosquito net, shelve for personal belongings, a small table with cushions to sit on, they also can be used for the veranda. The speciality of this hut is that it is close to the kitchen house and has probably the best view.
Hut 4 is located near by to Pentagon.
The public bathroom and washing facilities are closed by.

Pentagon

Pentagon was built in May 2001 on top of our old Hut 5, which you see under "History", and it was finished in the beginning of November the same year. We called it Pentagon because of its shape and after our old goodies huts 5 which we pulled down in March 15th and rebuit this Pentagon. In fact, it was Babs' favorite hut where she came and stayed as a guest at Sang Tong Huts in 1994.

	As it is on the slope we have to cut the mountain to get more space for the bathroom. 5 Karen-People were digging for nearly one month to make that hole. We have spent hours of planning and thinking, consulting our friends, Markus and Sabine, who are geologe and construction-engeniers and when it was done, it became such a wonderful hut. Each corner is five meters long and the cross-section of eight meters, so it is spacious enough. The bathroom, 4 by 4 meters, is under the living room. As usual we try to use as much natural material as possible. So the walls are made with wovened bamboo, the roof like the old style with ding-leaves, the main construction and the floor of the living room is made of teakwood, which is more and more difficult to get.
The funitures in this Pentagon were all customed made following our design, a big double teak wood bed with mosquito net, down blanket and pillows. Around the steps to the bathroom we have built a balustrade. The frontside has two open shelves and two closed ones equiped with boards for your stuff, but also stereo system (by the way, only CD player). On the opposite side you have a mini bar with a small fridge, wash basin and shelves. At the top is a double sitting place where you can enjoy the view.
	In front of the big panorama window you have the sitting area with a sofa, made from waterhyazinthe by Hang Dong Rattan, following Babs" design, a metall-table, which we found in Hamburg and big sitting piollows. If you like to write some lyrics or write your postcards you have a desk next to the tree which is in the hut, cause we hate to cut trees, so we intergrate it in the house. The veranda gives you a great overlook over the mountains and valley covered by our teaktrees. Just the installing of an hangmat drives us nuts, may be you have an idea how.
The steps down to the bathroom are made from Terra cotta and Toe has to install an aquaruim in front of the bottom window. With the size of 20 qm it is not a small bathroom, the floor has terra cotta ceramics, the wall a pattern of antic white and dark blue. This bathroom was Babs" element. She designed a big washing table, with shelves on both sides for towls and cosmetcis. This time we used a German hotshower system for a cosy warm shower, but also for the hot days we installed a mandi bath. On the front side you have windows and view to the garden. Kitchen and Ultility Area

It is like a central point when you arrive in or when you want to get together for example having dinner or breakfast together. Often admired and photographed, this house will give you a feeling of being at home.
Between dinning table and main kitchen is a fireplace which surrounded by four comfortable rattan armchairs where you can enjoy your time telling your friends the experience of the day. The stereo system was installed since the beginning when we first built in 1987, but the main system is located in our house, which is not far from the kitchen. Toe has a wide collections of music from classical to jazz and modern music.
If you like reading there are plenty of books for you located along on of the whole wall of kitchen. You can borrow any books, if you can not finish it during your stay and for some reasons you have to leave, you can take it with you but you have to mail it back to us.
At the long dinning table we serve foods (please look at "The Restaurant")

On the other side the is located. You can watch how to prepare the food or help cooking.
At middle part we have the coffe bar and the big fridge, with drinks and cakes.
At Sang Tong Huts we still keep the self service and the book system, that means everybody has a book, you help your self and write down what you had taken yourself.
