We started with this house in 1998, after all the huts for our guests were done. Now it was our turn, cause at this time we still slept on the floor next to our Jeep. It took us more than two years to finish it.
When Babs came back from Germany in summer 1998 Toe already started with the house. So the big discussion starts right away, cause he thought in Thai size and she in Farang size. The ceiling of the kitchen was too low for European people, so they would hit their head. The solution was to burrow the ground.
Haus After that was done we continued quite harmonic, Babs told Toe what she wants and he followed. Ideas came and were cancelled, a part of the roof was up, but too low so we have to pull it down again ....
At the ground floor the kitchen with the dining room is located. On the left side you see the entrance area which is directly connected with the garden. The long side of the house has glass doors, which can be open totally to the garden side.
Another of Toe´s projects, his waterfall. He built it opposite of the entrance door. Haus

Kitchen

Here you see a panoramic picture of the kitchen with the dining area. The floor is made with terra cotta ceramics, so the room is nice and cool in summer. The furniture at the dining area are old Thai school furniture, which we had found in Chiang Mai.
Kitchen
The kitchen part is made of bricks and ceramics. Here is also our famous oven where we make our bread and the cakes, a fume extractor hood stops the smell to go up to the first floor. A mixture between glass selves and wood boards keep the kitchen gears. A big fridge is under the steps. Pots, pans, plates, knifes, forks and spoons everything is availabe in case your are in the mood to cook.

Behind the kitchen is the bathroom, and it is really a room in its sence. It is equiped with two toiletts, one Thai style and one European style, a mandi-bath and a shower with a floor of gravel stones, a big mirrow over the basin, as well as a glass shelve for towels and cosmetics.
The floor is terra cotta, on the wall we put white tiles and at the top we made a border of blue ceramics with fish, shirmps, turtle and crabs on, which we found in Chiang Mai. What you see on the photos is may be only half of the bathroom.
Haus

Next to the bathroom we have built a guestroom, which we rent out if Mum or friends don´t occupy it. It is decorated in Maroc style, with its own terrace to the garden side, furnished with a double bed with mosquitonet. The front side has panoramic view to the garden.

First Floor

living room 1

On the upper floor are two living and one sleeping room located on different levels, but we made no walls. The first „livingroom„ is furnished with a sofa and chairs, next to the stereo system and the selves with the wide music collection on, as well as a big writing desk.
Via a small step you reach the sleeping room , which is seperated from the living room through a wardobe. We have a king size bed (180 by 200 cm) with mosquito net, behind the bed we have the old style Thai windows for a cool breath in the night.
The rest of the room is the „second„ living room, decorated with another sofa, a relaxing laying chairs, rattan made, big sitting pillows and another desk.

Haus

The atmosphere of this room is made by the roof construction, with its many corners and angles. The exits to the two terraces are also up here.
Balkon Balkon

This is our daytime balcony. It is built to the North direction and has shadow all day long, a perfect location to hang around, look through the big bamboo tree into the the sky, read a book or just dream. As you can see, also our ladies like this location and the view is of corse great:

Haus

The second terrace is built along the broadside of the house and located to the east.
Terrasse Terrasse

That means sunshine during daytime, but perfectly after sunset for a gin tonic as a sundowner, especially with no mosquitos. Also in the night it is very beautiful, you can lay down and watch the stars. In the day time you have the view to Mae Hong Son and the mountains around. This big terrace makes you feel like being on the deck deck of a big boat.
For special occassions we open this terrace for our guests to have barbeque together.

The price of this dream is depending on the length of stay and numbers of persons.
